Frequently Asked Questions
Canvas Printing FAQ
Important information about canvas materials, edge styles,
custom sizes, wooden stretcher frames and artwork preparation.
What is the difference between Premium Art Canvas
and Tarpaulin Canvas?
Premium Art Canvas provides a more refined textured
surface with richer colour and better detail reproduction.
Tarpaulin Canvas is a more affordable synthetic option
suitable for decorative and larger-format displays.
What is the difference between Printing Only
and Include Stretch Bar Frame?
Printing Only includes the printed canvas material without
a wooden support. Include Stretch Bar Frame means the canvas
is printed with additional wrapping material, stretched over
a wooden internal frame and secured at the back.
What is Mirror Wrap?
Mirror Wrap reflects the outer section of the image onto
the sides of the canvas. It normally preserves more of
the original image on the front and is our recommended
default option for most photographs.
What is Image Wrap?
Image Wrap continues the original image around the sides
of the stretcher. It creates a continuous gallery-style
appearance, but part of the original image will move from
the front onto the sides.
When should I choose a Solid Colour Edge?
A Solid Colour Edge is recommended when important elements
such as faces, logos or text are positioned close to the
artwork edge. White, black or a matching custom colour can
be applied while keeping the full image on the front.
What is a Blurred or Extended Edge?
A Blurred or Extended Edge enlarges, extends or softly
blurs the background near the image boundary. It is useful
for portraits and images where Mirror Wrap or Image Wrap
may create an unsuitable side appearance.
Can every image use any canvas edge style?
Not always. The suitability depends on the image composition.
Faces, hands, text, logos and straight lines near the edge
may affect the final result. Our team may recommend a more
suitable edge option after inspecting the artwork.
Why is an additional 3-inch margin added to every side?
The additional margin is required to wrap the canvas around
the sides of the wooden stretcher and secure it at the back.
A total of 6 inches is therefore added to both the finished
width and finished height.
What is the maximum size for a stretched canvas?
The available canvas material is up to 50 inches wide.
The canvas may be rotated so that the shorter material
dimension runs across the roll. For stretched canvas,
the maximum finished short side is normally 44 inches
because an additional 6 inches is required for wrapping.
Can the canvas be produced in landscape or portrait format?
Yes. The canvas can be prepared in landscape, portrait
or square format. The calculator automatically checks
whether the shorter required material dimension fits
within the 50-inch canvas roll.
Does the wooden stretcher count as a decorative frame?
No. The stretcher bar is an internal wooden support hidden
behind the wrapped canvas. It is different from an external
decorative picture frame.
What happens if my image ratio does not match the canvas size?
Some cropping or background extension may be required when
the image ratio does not match the selected dimensions.
Our team will review the artwork and advise if important
parts of the image may be affected.
What image quality is recommended?
A high-resolution original image is recommended, especially
for larger canvas sizes. Screenshots, heavily compressed
images and images downloaded from messaging applications
may appear less detailed when enlarged.
Why does a standard size have a different price
from the custom formula?
Standard sizes are offered at fixed package prices.
When the calculator detects an exact standard size,
it automatically applies the standard package price
instead of the custom-size formula.
Is the calculator price the final confirmed price?
The calculator provides an estimate based on the selected
size, material, finishing and quantity. Final acceptance
remains subject to artwork quality, image ratio, material
availability and production suitability.
How is the custom printing price calculated?
Printing Only is calculated using the finished width
multiplied by the finished height and the selected material
rate. Stretched canvas adds a 3-inch margin on every side
before the printing area is calculated.
How is the wooden stretcher price calculated?
The wooden stretcher price is based on the perimeter of
the finished canvas. The total perimeter in inches is
converted into feet and multiplied by RM8 per linear foot.
A RM10 stretching charge is then added per canvas.
